In the Open Spear Thistle Paperweight from Hafod Grange, a real spear thistle is carefully preserved in clear acrylic. The open flower reveals a beautiful network of fine purple branches, with the greenish base of the plant underneath. A botanical paperweight where you can examine the structure of the thistle up close.

The transparent acrylic acts almost like a magnifying glass. From every angle, you discover different details, and the incidence of light subtly changes the character of the purple, pink, and green hues. Beautiful as a paperweight on a desk, but perhaps even more interesting as a small botanical art object among books, ceramics, and other special finds.

A thistle in full bloom

It is precisely the open form that makes this spear thistle so special. The flower fills a large part of the transparent sphere and forms an almost abstract play of lines.
